Housetraining Your Puppy
Jun 25th, 2009 | By Jessica Kelly | Category: Featured, TrainingEveryone loves a puppy! Especially a labrador puppy. Teaching your puppy can be fun-filled and ultimately rewarding but it is hard work. I always advise not getting a puppy for your children. A one or two year old dog is still young enough that it acts like a puppy.

Getting a puppy is a huge responsibility and should be handled with adults who can dedicate most of their days with a puppy in the beginning. Like a newborn baby, puppies get up frequently in the night and require diligent attention. They also need many trips outdoors for pee breaks.
Housetraining your puppy is crucial in order to teach it manners and obedience. Make sure you get some baby gates to block off areas of the house. You want to make sure the puppy is in a controlled but small area like the living room and kitchen or kitchen and laundry room. In this area have his crate and dog food bowls
With time, teaching your puppy to pee outside and to stay in a certain area will become easier. Have fun!
